Just starting on BLW now- do you need to cut up a slice of this bread for the little one, or do you just hand them the whole slice?

Any ideas on how long? I’m looking at train in the late afternoon, overnight in a hotel (no fridge), and then the transatlantic flight. I’m not sure if that’s pushing it or not. I know I wouldn’t hesitate eating a baked good that’s been out that long, but when it comes to my son who’ll be 8 months old at the time…

Depends how quickly your family and BLWer eats it. We generally freeze into slices then I put a frozen slice into the toaster if I was to defrost there and then.
Or we leave in a airtight container if we were to eat it that week ? x

Just don’t add the coconut if you don’t want to. If you use plain flour you will need to add a little (1/2 tsp) baking soda ?

And will plain flour work instead of self-raising? If yes, do I add the same amount?

Yes just wrap it up and put a couple slices in a cooler bag! We always pack this for long haul flights, I even pack a couple slices for me ?for a healthy snack on the flight. All the best on the flight with bub! X

I’m using the self-raising flour and measuring ingredients accurately. Anyone else have this problem? I feel like 170 degrees just isn’t hot enough.

You could try ‘whole full fat milk’ or ‘water and lemon juice’, give it a go and let us know how you go.

A whole frozen loaf (that is in slices) takes us about a month to get through or even less. I would say that it can be frozen for 2-3 months.

What a great recipe!! We left out the sultanas and it was still sweet enough for us. I think this will become something I make regularly as it is easy and we already had almost all the ingredients in our panty/fridge. I also love how convenient it is to grab a slice when we are going out and there is minimal mess! Thank you so much for sharing this delicious recipe!!
