Hi lovely they should not be crumbly, could it be the dates? Did u use medjool dates? They are big soft dates. Was your butter room temperature?

Thanks. X Rach

I made these today and they are very yummy! They were so much fun for my little one to help make too she’s 18mo. However, mine turned out very very flaky and crumbly and fall apart nearly as soon as you pick them up. Did I do something wrong? I used a whole wheat flour (einkorn), but everything else I followed exactly.

This is a personal choice. In small quantities in baking it is fine. Just watch other sugars / sweet goods. It is safe, honey on the other hand is not safe for under 1s, so maple syrup is the alternative to honey in baking or try making my date paste recipe. The recipe is on my website. X

We floured the surface and was fine! But glad they worked out ? Xmas cookie shapes would be fab! I’m testing a ginger bread recipe this weekend so keep an eye out ?

Delicious in whatever form. Next time I may adjust the flour or oats in the hopes of making Christmas cookies.
