Just wanted to say a big thank you for all your fantastic recipes for the little ones plus all the helpful advice/suggestions on here. I’ve been using the recipes since I weaned my first baby who is now 2 and a half and they helped me so much with both their blw journeys! So thank you! ?

My little one is allergic to egg. What was the best substitute? 6 eggs seems to be so many to substitute with just applesauce. I’m considering doing a combination of applesauce and another substitute. Thoughts?

The more over ripe the bananas the sweeter the cake will be so I suggest you keep them til they are over ripe ? frozen blueberries should work the same ? have an amazing day! And happy birthday to your son ? they grow up way too quick! Let us know how your cake goes would love to see photos xx Rach

As we love your recipes, I’ve decided to make this cake. I just have two questions. Should the bananas be overripe or just ripe? I can no longer find fresh blueberries (which is a shame as they’re my son’s favorite). Do you think frozen would work in the cake? I’d use another fruit for decoration.

My friends & family loved it for its flavourful taste. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe. I might make it again because I didn’t get to eat enough of it before it was all gone already.

I’m wondering about freezing the two sponges before icing them, then defrosting the night before, and icing on the day of my daughter’s party – would that work?! Thanks!

Yes. Wrap the cake up in gladwrap and leave in a dry cool place (not the fridge) and Just don’t put the icing on until the morning. ?

Should be fine! But have never used just egg yolks. Maybe add one more yolk to make up for the egg white. Any reason why can’t put egg white? X

I’ve found this whole website super helpful when it comes to meal and snack ideas, and I was very grateful to find a cake recipe that wasn’t full of sugar that my son would still enjoy. I made the cake into a football (my son was born on Superbowl Sunday, I think he’s going to have a football themed party every year hahaha) and used a bit of cocoa powder and food colouring for the icing and it turned out great. He actually wasn’t a fan of the icing, but once I scraped off what was left after the cake smash, he loved the cake!

Made this cake for my sons 1st birthday and it was a hit. We doubled the recipe as we had a two tier cake. Was so great that my son could eat some of his cake as I wouldn’t have allowed him to eat ordinary sugar laden cake. ?
