Cabbage thoran with step by step pictures.

Every day we use to have different vegetables as a side dish for rice and this is one such. It tastes good and also easy to make. You will find this humble vegetable is almost in meals across all hotels.

Ingredients:

1.Cabbage-1\4 kg
2.Onion-1 medium
3.Green chilli-2 or 1 if big
4.Jeera/cumin seeds-1 tsp
5.Turmeric powder-1\4 tsp
6.ginger-1 small piece
7.salt to taste
8.Grated coconut-1/3 cup or pieces
9.oil to temper
10.Curry leaves
11.Mustard


Method:

1.Clean & cut cabbage into small pieces. Cut onion into small pieces.

2.Grind coconut with jeera,, ginger, green chilli& turmeric powder to a coarse texture(not fine).Grind in whipper mode of mixie.


3. Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard, onion, curry leaves & saute well.

4. Then add cabbage, coconut mix and salt.



5.sprinkle little water, cover and cook in low flame.


6.In about 5mins it will be ready.




Note:

1. For authentic Kerala taste use coconut oil.
