Horse gram is very good for health,it is know by different names in different parts ,Kollu in South India, Cowpea in English, Kulti in Hindi, Habbul Kulth in Arabic, Kulatha Kalai in Sanskrit, Bian Dou in Chinese, Bonnavista Bean and also Hyacinth Bean. The of horse gram are being recognized light in the western world recently but has been known for its medicinal purposes by Indian Ayurvedic Vaidyas since centuries.
It has many medicinal property so use one a month at least in any form.
We can eat this in form of sundal too.
2.Turmeric powder1\4 tsp
3.Mustard to temper
4.hing- generous amount
1.Check an eye on kollu as it will have stones in it.
2.Soak it in water for at least 8 hrs.
3.Grain water &Pressure cook it with enough water& salt for 4 whistle.
4.Drain the water.use the drained water to make rasam.
5.Heat oil in a pan,add mustard,hing,curry leaves and saute well.Then add cooked horse gram & turmeric powder and saute for a while till the powders raw smell goes.
6.Remove from heat and add grated coconut.
Good for evening snack.
