Upma is one of the easiest breakfast which can be made in jiffy.When i was young i hate it but as i grow i started liking it,specially with coconut chutney.If i feel lazy to make chutney i just eat it with sugar nothing matches.Once when we were in boat house they served us upma with kadalai curry,after tasting the combo my kids to started liking this very much.
- Broken wheat- 1 cup
- Water- 3 cups
- Green chillies-2
- ginger- 1 tsp(finely chopped)
- Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- Oil-3 tsp
- Mustard- 1\2 tsp
- Bengal gram/channa dal gram- 1\2 tsp
1.Heat oil in wok/kadai, followed by items under " to temper".
2.Then add onion,green chillies, and ginger,saute for a while.
3.Then add water,salt and bring to boil.
4.When the water starts boiling,add the broken wheat to it and combine it well.Close the lid and cook for 5-8 mins or till done.
Serve got with coconut chutney or sugar.
1.To make it more healthy u can add some cooked veggies (carrot,beans,peas) to it.
