Carrot Chutney / Dip | Side Dish for Idli / Dosa | No coconut chutney recipe

For more than a month i couldn't post for priya's vegan thursday event don't want to miss this time so this simple chutney recipe.

Preparation time: under 10 mins
Cooking time: under 10 mins


  • Carrot,cubed- from 2
  • Urad dal-2 tsp
  • channa dal-2 tsp
  • Red chilly-2 r 3
  • Tamarind-little
  • ginger-a small piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil-2 tsp

To temper

  • oil-1 tsp
  • mustard-1\2 tsp
  • curry leaves-few


1.Heat oil in a pan,roast urad dal,channa dal and red chilly well.Transfer it to a plate.
 In the same pan add diced carrot and toast for few minutes till its raw smell vanish.

2.Take everything in a blender along with tamarind,ginger and salt.Make a fine paste add water if needed.

Then temper with mustard ,curry leaves and serve for idli / dosai.


1.Add red chilly according to ur spice level.

2.You can add garlic if u like it.
