Foxtail Millet / Thinnai Ribbon Pakoda | Healthy Snack


After baking bread with the foxtail millet flour i want to do some snack items with it.As kids are at home i go with this deep fried ribbon pakoda snack.Try this healthy snack.



Preparation time: under 15 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins


Ingredients:


  • Fox tail millet/Thinnai flour-1 cup
  • Urad dal flour-1\4 cup ( i used readymade flour)( see note)
  • Red chilly powder- 1\2 tsp
  • Hing powder-1\4 tsp
  • black sesame seeds-1 tsp
  • Butter/oil/vegetable shortening- 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry
  • Water-as needed




Method:

1.Dry roast urad dal flour till aroma comes be careful not to burn it.

2.In a bowl add thinnai flour,roasted  urad dal flour,chilly powder,butter,salt,hing,sesame oil and mix first.Slowly add water and make a soft dough.

3.Heat oil for frying.Fill the presser with the dough and press it in oil.Fry them well.



4.Drain excess oil.Do the same for all dough.

Cool well and store in air tight container.

Serve for tea/coffee.

Note:

1.Dry roast urad dal,cool and powder it.Sieve and use it to make if u don't have ready made flour.
