Sweet stuffed Foxtail millet kozhukattai /Mothagam | Healthy Kozhukattai

In my previous post of kozhukkai( Foxtail millet paal kozhukatai) i wrote about another version than this is the one.Yes this is a stuffed version of healthy kozhukattai ,try making these and enjoy the festival.

Ingredients:

Outer dough:

  • Foxtail millet flour-3\4 cup (see notes)
  • rice flour-1\4 cup
  • salt -1\2 tsp
  • Ghee-1 tsp
For filling
  • Grated coconut-1 cup
  • Powdered jaggery-3\4 cup
  • ginger powder- a pinch(optional)
  • Elachi powder-little

Method:

1.In a non stick pan add in grated coconut, jaggery, dry ginger powder(if using) and elachi powder.Keep sauteing till it leaves the sides. This is the sweet filling for the kozhukattai.

2.In a deep wide bowl add all the ingredients  for outer dough.Add in some 2 -3 cup  hot water.Mix and keep in heat.Keep stirring till it forms a non sticky dough.Knead well and keep closed from drying.

3.Take lemon sized dough of it make a cup of it.From the sweet filling prepared before take small lemon sized and keep it inside as shown and seal it.Do the same for all.

4.Arrange it in a idli plate and steam it.That's it tasty and healthy modak is ready.

Note:

1.You can do alone with foxtail millet flour but it felt difficult to get  anon sticky dough so i added rice flour.
2.Can use other millet flours too.
