Dal Palak | Spinach in Lentils (With Moong dal)


We all know the health benefits of greens.We can have them as stir fry,with dal,as kabab,with non-veg,etc.There are so many ways to use it and this is one such method.Here i have use moongdal  you can use what ever dal you prefer.

Preparation time: 10 mins
cooking time:under 30 mins

Ingredients:
  • Moongdal-1\2 cup
  • Jeera-1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1\2 tsp
  • Garlic pods-3(optional)
  • Palak leaves- 3 r 4 cup 
  • Ginger-a small piece
  • Green chilly-1 big 
  • Oil-1 tbsp
  • onion-1 ,finely chopped
  • tomato-1
  • garam masala-1\2 tsp
  • Salt to taste




Method:

1.Just boil the palak leaves in water for  a minute,drain and wash it cold water.Grind it to puree with green chilly and ginger.Cook moong dal with turmeric powder,jeera and garlic.(you can pressure cook it also).

2.Heat oil in a kadai,add onion and saute till it becomes translucent.Then add tomato,cook till it becomes mushy.

3.Then add in ground palak puree and saute a while.Followed by cooked dal along with salt and garam masala.


4.Switch off when it reaches  the consistency you want.

serve hot for rice.



Note:

1.You can use cooker to cook the dal.

2.You can use any dal variety.
