Samai Paal Payasam | Little Millet Pudding | Millet Recipe

We all know about the health benefits of millets and many would have been using it in many can check all my millets recipes from my recipe index.Here i have use it to make a sweet dish,a pudding which not only taste good but healthy too.Do give a try this payasam with the millet in alternative to your regular rice.

serves: 3 -4 

  • Little millet/Saamai rice-1\2 cup
  • sugar-1\2 cup ( adjust)
  • Milk-1\2 cup
  • water-1\2  to 1 cup
  • cardamon-2,crushed
  • ghee-2 tsp
  • cashew nuts-few


1.Wash the millet and cook it in water+milk in open pan since millets get cooked easily.
2.When it is cooked add in sugar and crushed cardamon and slow the flame it everything blends well.
3.When it becomes little thick switch off.Add in ghee roasted cashew and serve.

This can  be served either hot or cold.

It may thicken as it get cool,dilute it with milk to the consistency you want.


1.I have given here sugar as 1\2 cup ,for us it was fine if you prefer more sweetness then increase.
