Aamras | Sweetened Mango Puree | Side Dish for Poori

Aamras is nothing but a mango puree flavored with cardamon and saffron. It is a Gujarati sweet dish.while browsing for this recipe I read as it is not alone served with Puri/poori but also as a dessert. Aam means mango and ras mean water, yes aamars is nothing but liquefied mango puree.water or milk is added to diluted it but here I did not add any liquid.

Making this is very simple just a child play, make puree of mango add in flavors and serve.Though my daughter won't prefer sweet dish for breakfast I made potato sabji for her and this for my sweet tooth.

Preparation time: 2 mins
cooking time: nil

  • Fully riped mango-1
  • sugar- 2 or 3 tsp
  • cardamon powder-1\2 tsp
  • saffron-few strands

1.Clean,peel and cut the mango into pieces.Blend it to puree with sugar.
2.Transfer to a bowl, add in cardamom powder and mix.Top it with saffron strands and serve for poori or as such.

1.Use fibre less mango variety for this.
2.Adjust sugar according to the sweetness of the mango.
If you prefer it to be little thin then dilute with water or milk.
