Mini Apple Pie | Eggless Apple pie

At last, I did it , yes it was my long term wish to make apple pie and I successfully  did it last week. Every time when I think of trying this I would search wide recipes ,see youtube but at end wold end up with nothing making.Sometimes we need some external force to push up to bring out the sleeping capabilities in us.When I saw about a contest in a page I decided to make this but at the end , I didn't submit my entry there , I'm happy and more fulfilled  because I baked my long term pending proposal   although I didn't submit for the competition.

Coming to this recipe, Apple pie is an American dessert with crispy flaky crust and juicy filling of apple insides with flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg.This  pie is usually served with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream or as such. Instead of making a big pie I opted to do single serve pie in my muffin pan.I referred here to get some ideas.

Preparation time : 25 mins
cooking time 30 mins
yields : 4 big mini pies


  • Flour- 1 cup
  • Butter - 2 big blocks( around 75 gms)
  • salt-1\4 tsp
  • sugar- 1 tbsp
  • cold water


  • Red apples-2
  • granulated sugar- 1\4 cup
  • brown sugar- 1 tbsp
  • cinnamon powder- 1 tsp
  • nutmeg powder- 1\2 tsp
  • flour-1 tbsp
  • milk- to brush on top
  • sugar- 1 tsp ( to sprinkle)


1. In a mixing bowl add in flour,sugar,salt and butter.Mix it to resemble bread crumbs.Then slowly add water and form a soft non sticky dough.Cover it with cling paper and keep it refrigerator till use.This is the basic pie dough.

2.Clean ,peel and chop the apple in to small cubes. To it add in both sugars.cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder,flour and mix well.This may release water .check notes if so.

3.Take the pie dough out and rolled it in flour dusted area.Cut in shapes of circles and place it on a greased & flour dusted  pie pan / muffin pan.Pierce it with fork.Fill it with some of the prepared fillings.Do four mini pies similarly.

4.With the remaining roll it and make thin strips to make weaved pattern or simple circle pattern with slots on top.I did two weaved pattern and two simple circle pattern.

5.Brush on top with milk and sprinkle sugar. Bake it in a pre heated oven at 180 deg C fro 30-35 mins till the crust turns lightly brown.

6.Cool it on the wire rack and serve as such or with some ice cream.

Notes :

1.If the sugar has released water in apple , heat some butter in a pan , reduce the collected water in it to a thick form and return it to the apple mix.Now use this as a filling.
