Its Diwali , the festival of light in just fifteen days. I can see bloggers posting lip-smacking sweets and savories which really tempts me.I'm enjoying all the virtual treats of festive foods in social media and feel to grab those directly from my screen, pity me.Planning ,planning to do some festive post but never cook as feeling lazy.Yesterday somewhat I managed to cope over the laziness and try this snack .
This ring murukku is so simple and many must have seen at sweet vendors shops.I don't know why its called andhra murukku may be the use of spice powder, my wild guess.I would sure to grab some packets when I saw these and these make perfect for tea time snack.
Preparation time:15 mins
cooking time 15 mins
- Rice flour- 1 cup
- water- 1 cup
- moong dal- 1 tbsp
- salt- to taste
- red chilly powder- 1\2 tsp
- hing powder-1\4 tsp
- oil- to deep fry + 1 tsp
1.Clean dal in water and soak for 30 mins.
2.Heat 1 cup of water in a non-stick pan .
3.Add the drained dal and salt.
4.When water boils,slowly add the flour with continous stirring.When it comes together ,switch off and take from stove.
5.Mix and allow it to cool.
6.Add in chilly powder,hing powder and knead well.Heat a tsp of oil ,add to it and knead.
7.Make small balls of it.Make small log of it and join the ends making it look similar to a ring.Repeat the same for all dough.
8.Heat oil and fry the prepared ringa in batches.Drain excess oil.cool and store them.
Perfect snack for evening tea/ coffee.
1.I used my homemade rice flour, you can use store brought one.
