Thandai is a drink prepared on a colorful day, Holi, the starting of the spring season.Although Holi is celebrated in a grand manner in northern India nowadays I see people in the south also enjoy this fun-filled day by splashing color over one another. Two years before I have prepared this drink with instant one-time masala where all ingredients are soaked, ground, mixed with milk and then filtered. You can check that recipe here.
The spice powder needed to make this drink, thandai, is easily available nowadays but I decided to to make it from starch.It very easy to make just add in to a dry mixer and grind it. Here I did not add any pistachio but if you want you can add very few like 3-5 as it may dominate and will give a pale green color to the drink.Just make this powder and drink the whole summer with chilled milk as it cool the body.

Makes: 1/2 cup
- Almond - 1\2 cup
- cashew-1\4 cup
- melon seeds- 2 tsp
- Elachi/cardamon- 10 to 12
- poppy seeds- 2 tsp
- fennel seeds/ saunf- 1 tsp
- black pepper- 1 tsp
- rose petals-few
1.Take all your ingredients.Add in to a dry mixer.
2.First pulse it and then run for few seconds.Scrap the sides and grind to fine powder.
3.Store it in an airtight container and keep it refrigerated.
I have decided to try few recipes with this powder, so stay tuned for it.
