Rava Ragi Idli | Instant Idli | Healthy Breakfast/ Dinner

Instant idli with ragi flour and rava/semoline/sooji.Let us see how to make this simple ,healthy yet delicious idli/steamed cake which is suitable for breakfast or dinner .I already have quite some variety of idli recipes in my blog ,so check the breakcast label and get to know about it.This is an instant version just mixing ingredients and steaming it unlike the ragi idli where you need to soak rice+ millet,grind and allow to ferment.It comes in handy for dinner when you have no clue what to prepare.Do try and I'm sure you will fall in love with it.

For variations you can add vegetables like shredded carrot,finely chopped beans and make this idli.

Makes: 9 idlis


  • Ragi/finger millet flour-1 cup
  • rava/sooji/semoline- 1 cup
  • curd/yogurt-1 cup
  • Eno fruit salt- 1 tsp
  • salt- to taste
  • oil- 1 tsp
  • mustard-1\2 tsp
  • ginger,chopped-1\2 tsp
  • green chilly-1,chopped finely
  • curry leaves

1.In a bowl add in ragi flour, sooji/rava and salt.Mix well.THen add curd/yogurt and mix well.Keep aside for 10 mins.

2.Meanwhile heat oil a pan ,pop out mustard followed by ginger,chilly and curry leaves.Add to the prepared mix and ix well.If it is thick slightly dilute with water.Just before cooking add in eno fruit salt and mix well.

3.Grease the idli plate and pour the batter into it and steam till done.

Serve hot with chutney,sambar or podi


1.If you don't have eno fruit salt you can use cooking soda.
