Madras Mixture | Spicy Mixture | Easy Diwali Snack Recipe

 I love to watch chef Venkatesh Bhut's cooking show in Vijay tv as the method involved and the way he narrates make us feel the simplicity of the recipe.I remember him making this mixture in an episode some very long back.In it he mentioned make this snack when you get time as its so simple, pocket-friendly and make a great snack, yes its all really true.When I did it I got a big bottle full and made a great snack for the evening. Since Diwali is fast nearing and if you still have no clue what snack to make for disturbing do try this simple mixture.

Preparation time: 5mins
Cooking time: Under 30 mins

Ingredients:

  • Besan flour/ Kadalai mavoo - 1\2cup + 1\2cup
  • Oil- to deep fry
  • Cashew nuts-few pieces
  • Ground nuts-1\4 cup
  • Beaten rice/ poha-1\4 cup
  • Pottukadalai/chutney dal- 1\4 cup
  • Crushed garlic-2
  • Ajwain-1\4 tsp
  • Curry leaves- few
  • Red chilly powde-1\2 tsp
  • Hing /asafoetida powder-1\4 tsp
  • Salt- to taste




Method:

Batter & dough.
For Boondhi:

1.Mix 1\2 cup flour in water along with little salt.Make a semi thick batter.Heat oil and place a perforated ladle over it pour the batter so that it drop in form of balls  in the hot oil.Fry the boondhi well.Repeat the process to finish off the batter.

For sev:

2.Add 1\2 cup flour,lottle slat,ajwain in it.Add water and make a  soft dough.Fill the sev presser with the dough and press it over hot oil.Repeat the process for all dough.

3.In the same oil first fry groundnut, roasted channa dal,poha, cashew,crushed garlic and curry leaves one by one.Cool everything well.



4.In a mixing  bowl add all the fried items.Break the the sev into small pieces.Add chilly powder, hing and salt.Toss it well by shaking the bowl.


Store in a clean dry bottle.
