Green gram- rice kanji with step by step pictures and video.

Green gram- rice kanji is a healthy porridge. It is a one-pot easy dinner recipe that can be easily made. This porridge is filling and be given to people above 2 years. I mostly make this kanji when I run out of an idea for what to make for dinner. In the place of green gram, you can use black urad dal and it is urad dal kanji. Don't skip the addition of garlic as it gives flavor, taste, and aids in the digestion. The thogayal I prepared is the best combo. do try this once and let me know it.

Ingredients:

For kanji:

Rice- 2 cups ( use big variety rice)
Green gram-1 cup
Fenugreek seeds-1/2 tsp
Garlic- 15-pods
Water- 6-7 cups
Salt.

For thogayal:

Coconut pieces-1/2 cup
Red chilly-  2or 3
Garlic-2
Tamarind-little
Curry leaves.
salt
oil-1 tsp



Method:

1.  In a pressure cooker add rice, green gram, fenugreek seeds. clean well in rice for 3-4 times.



2. Add garlic, salt, and water.



3. Pressure cook for 5-6 whistle. Switch off and wait for the steam to release by itself.



4. Open and mash it well with a ladle. Dilute with hot water and serve with thogayal.

                                  

For thogayal:


Heat oil in a pan. Roast red chilly without burning. Switch and add coconut. Roast it in that heat itself



Cool and grind with garlic and salt. Sprinkle little water.

Taste good when the kanji is served hot.
